Nutrition Counseling

Food can be tricky. Let’s talk about it.

Nutrition therapy is not only about what you eat, but how you think and feel about about food and eating. There is so much noise about food that it can be hard to actually know what or even how to eat! I help people reduce shame and guilt around eating, bring understanding and compassion to eating behaviors, and empower people to make choices around food and their bodies that feel aligned with their life values.

This practice specializes in eating disorders, disordered eating and chronic dieting, dysfunctional exercise, weight-inclusive medical nutrition therapy, and body image healing. I work with folks of all genders ages 13+ and provide both in-person sessions in a cozy Bend office and virtual sessions throughout Oregon.

I firmly believe that eating disorder treatment and nutrition counseling should be accessible. As such, I am an in-network provider with:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Pacific Source Commercial

  • Providence Healthcare

  • United Healthcare

  • MODA Healthcare

  • First Choice Health

  • Pacific Source Community Solutions

Some teams will also have a psychiatrist, occupational therapist and/or physical therapist. An outpatient team works collaboratively to ensure clients get the best care for their recovery while staying in their day to day life. Clients in outpatient level will typically visit with their dietitian 1-2x/week, therapist 1-2x/week, PCP monthly, and psychiatrist as needed.

  • 1000%. As a Health at Every Size provider, I do not help people lose weight. But, that absolutely does not mean you cannot have this desire. I talk about this with almost every single client. If this is you, you are welcome here.

  • Health at Every Size™ is a compassionate care framework that recognizes and promotes body diversity and holistic health. We recognize a focus on intentional weight loss causes harm, does not improve health, and further invokes weight stigma and discrimination. We believe any person in any size body can pursue health and create positive behavior change that prioritizes their individual health desires.

The 5 pillars of health at every size include:

WEIGHT INCLUSIVITY: Accept and respect the inherent diversity of body shapes and sizes and reject the idealizing or pathologizing of specific weights.

HEALTH ENHANCEMENT: Support health policies that improve and equalize access to information and services, and personal practices that improve human well-being, including attention to individual physical, economic, social, spiritual, emotional and other needs.

EATING FOR WELL-BEING: Promote flexible, individualized eating based on hunger, satiety, nutritional needs, and pleasure, rather than any externally regulated eating plan focused on weight control.

RESPECTFUL CARE: Acknowledge our biases, and work to end weight discrimination, weight stigma, and weight bias. Provide information and services from an understanding that socio-economic status, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, and other identities impact weight stigma, and support environments that address these inequities.

LIFE-ENHANCING MOVEMENT: Support physical activities that allow people of all sizes, abilities, and interests to engage in enjoyable movement, to the degree that they choose.
